Press Release: Basil Audio Now Offering McIntosh

Basil Audio Now Offering McIntosh

Basil’s first McIntosh reference music system features top of the range MT10 Precision Turntable, iconic MC275 Vacuum Tube Stereo Power Amplifier, award winning C1100 2-Channel Vacuum Tube Preamplifier

LOS GATOS, Calif., August 15th 2018 – Basil Inc. today announced that it is now an Authorized dealer of McIntosh Laboratory Inc. home audio products at a time when the handcrafted high-end American audio manufacturer presents the strongest line-up in its sixty-nine year history.

McIntosh is highly recognizable for their black glass front panels and “McIntosh Blue” power meters. Founded in 1949, McIntosh is known for offering distinguished home audio systems that deliver the ultimate experience in music. In their reference system McIntosh does not disappoint. Basil will demonstrate the full range of McIntosh’s capabilities showcasing the top of the range MT10 Precision Turntable, iconic MC275 Vacuum Tube Stereo Power Amp and award winning C1100 2-channel audio Vacuum Tube Preamp control center. The C1100 multi-chassis pre-amp features 12 analog inputs including integrated moving coil and moving magnet phono stages.

Unique features and patented Power Guard circuitry set McIntosh’s amplifiers apart from others’ products; various models are available offering from 75 to 2000 watts per channel. High quality power supplies, powerful circuit topologies, and balanced inputs complete each amplifier. McIntosh products are designed and handcrafted in their Binghamton, New York factory.

At their Los Gatos showroom, Basil’s expert team will showcase McIntosh’s unique built-in technologies bringing a new level of performance and luxury to McIntosh’s heralded preamplifier offerings – evidenced by the C1100’s high level inputs having the lowest noise of any McIntosh preamplifier ever produced. It utilizes a two-chassis design where the control and power section are completely separate from the audio section. Absolute isolation of a preamplifier’s two main functions – control and sound – is achieved by this unusual but effective design and will provide the purest sound reproduction possible for generations of listening enjoyment.

“We are delighted to work with Basil Audio” said Charlie Randall, President of McIntosh. “We are excited to engage with all generations of previously underserved music lovers and audio enthusiasts in the San Francisco Bay Area with a strong interest in vinyl and streaming.”

The C1100 preamplifier is part of the McIntosh Reference Music System. It employs fully balanced circuitry to match the level of performance achieved in any of McIntosh’s Quad Balanced amplifiers and can be paired with a variety of Macintosh amplifiers, speakers, room correction devices, CD players, turntables, tuners and other source components to complete a home audio system.

The C1100 is comprised of the C1100C Controller (weight 27 lbs) and the C1100T Vacuum Tube Preamplifier (weight 25 lbs). Inside each, the left and right channels are electrically and mechanically isolated from each other to allow true dual mono operation. The two units are connected together via a pair of specially designed, high performance umbilical cables that are shielded to prevent outside noise from leaking into the audio signal. While two separate units, when connected they act as one and are easy to control and operate from the included remote control or the C1100 Controller front panel.

All power control, data ports and external control connections are located in the C1100C Controller. The C1100T Vacuum Tube Preamplifier houses the audio connections and circuitry, featuring a total of 12 analog inputs: 6 balanced, 4 unbalanced, plus adjustable loading Moving Magnet and Moving Coil phono inputs.

With tracking force, anti-skate and cartridge position preset at the factory, the McIntosh MT10 Precision Turntable delivers high performance LP playback with minimal set up. A custom tonearm features a rigid, dual-aluminium arm-tube gimballed in two sapphire (horizontal and two ceramic (vertical) bearings for the least possible friction. A 0.5mV output moving coil cartridge is included, featuring an ebony body with an elliptical stylus.
